About Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh

Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in 1968. For more than 50 years the Club has been working tirelessly towards its mission to improve the lives of children and families. The Club provides youth development services and family outreach support to meet the needs of young people, ages 6 to 18, and their families, and provides after-school care and summer programming to over 700 youth in the Oshkosh area.

 

About the role

The Human Resources Manager will work to recruit, develop, and retain the staff working every day to provide Oshkosh’s youth with a safe space after school and during the summer months.

This is a part-time, non-exempt position. The HR Manager will work approximately 25 – 30 hours per week, based on seasonal needs. The person in this role will have responsibility for all human resources-related activities.

The HR Manager will:

  • Develop and deliver orientation programs to all new employees and ensure all supervisors are trained to follow the new employee orientation program and proper paperwork is filed.
  • Manage the payroll process, with support from Finance & Accounting.
  • Create and manage the organization’s compensation plan and strategy, including completion of salary and benefits surveys as needed.
  • Manage the recruitment and onboarding processes for both Boys & Girls Club and assigned school district Community Learning Center sites.
  • Manage job descriptions.
  • Manage workers’ compensation programs.
  • Manage unemployment programs.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of staff development and training programs.
  • Develop benefits programs and communicate effectively to all eligible employees.
  • Ensure legal compliance in employment practices (FMLA, ADA, benefits compliance, I-9s, etc.)
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment that complies with all OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Foster an efficient use of the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh’s human resources by promoting and supporting an environment where dignity, ethical conduct, and diversity are valued, where employees are respected, their contributions are recognized and their career development is encouraged.
  • Assist supervisors at both Boys & Girls Club and assigned school district Community Learning Center sites with employee relations issues as they arise.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to employees and supervisors.
  • Manage Paylocity HRIS as the company administrator.

Leadership

  • Attend meetings of the Human Resources Committee meetings in an advisory role.
  • Fosters a positive work culture. Promote the area of health, wellness and fitness to our membership.
  • Maintain confidentiality in an appropriate manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.
  • Mandated child abuse reporter.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible work experience managing the human resource functions in a nonprofit agency or equivalent experience.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, as well as excellent follow-through skills.
  • Experience in handling confidential records.
  • Commitment to role model and promote a lifestyle of health, wellness and fitness.
  • Experience with Microsoft and Google Suites preferred.
  • Experience with Paylocity HRIS preferred.
  • Ability to interact professionally with Club staff, Board members, volunteers and other related agencies and vendors.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to sit for long periods and work on a keyboard.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to think clearly and concisely.
  • Must be able to go up and downstairs.
