Program Overview

The Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh is excited to offer a brand new summer program located inside of the Peace Lutheran Church building, 240 W 9th Ave. 2020 summer hours begin on Monday, June 1st and end on Friday, August 21st. The Adventure Program at Peace Lutheran will bring Boys & Girls Club programming to a new location for 5-12 year olds. Just like at the Club’s Parkway location, this program will feature a variety of programs that focus on academic success, health and wellness, character and leadership, sports, fitness and recreation as well as the arts.

When enrolling for summer, please note that this is a separate program and requires you to register ahead of time.

For summer 2020, we will be enrolling 100 Club members into this new program site. The program will have 5 classrooms specific to member age. Each classroom will have at least one teacher that will lead their group in a variety of activities.

While in the classroom, Club members will participate in engaging games and activities that are tailored to that group’s age-appropriate skills and abilities. Club members will also have access to a playground, gym and cafeteria/games room throughout the day. Breakfast, lunch and snack will also be provided for all members.

The Adventure Program at Peace Lutheran will also have programming offsite. This includes field trips to local parks and businesses, bus field trips and swimming. The program is sure to keep your child busy and having fun this summer.

We offer 100 spots for kids ages 5-12. Our Summer Registration Form will be available at Boys & Girls Club after school sites from 2:45 – 6:00 p.m. M-F, and at the Radford Center front desk starting Monday, January 13, 2020. What if the Summer Adventure Program at Peace Lutheran is full?

If you sign up, but the class has already reached the 100 child limit, your child will be placed on a waiting list. We will serve children on a first come, first served basis. This is why it is important to register as soon as possible to have your best chance of securing a spot for your child.

Weekly Summer Fees

We charge per week, not per day. This means that it is the same cost whether your child comes 3 days or 5 days.

Scholarship assistance will be based on a sliding scale income but everyone will be expected to pay according to their income level. Assistance will be offered for children who are aged 7-12. Field Trips

The field trip schedule is being developed right now! A calendar of trips and activities will be available in early May. Field Trip calendars will also be available at the site and can be requested from the Child Care Services Director. Field Trips are included in the weekly fee. There is no extra charge for trips. Field trips are also voluntary. Club members may choose not to participate in field trips and remain at the site at the parent’s/guardian’s request.

Camp Week

Camp week will be held August 17th-21st. The bus will load at 8 a.m. and return at 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Camp Week will be held at Camp Radford. Camp Radford is 45 acres of land in New London, on the Little Wolf River. The camp’s facilities include an arts and crafts building, a main cabin that features a kitchen and bathrooms as well as a fishing dock, play equipment, gaga pit, archery area and a basketball hoop. Kids who attend Camp Week get the opportunity to experience a new environment, the outdoors, sunshine and fresh air.

While at camp, members will participate in a wide variety of outdoor activities including swimming, fishing, hiking, scavenger hunts, a challenge course, campfire meals, archery, large group games, fort building, crafts and more!

Mobile Library and Technology Cart

During the summer, we are able to bring a mobile library to each classroom! The carts of brand new books will rotate classrooms to keep all members interested and engaged in the stories. Books range from easy readers to chapter books, so there will be something for everyone.

Our technology cart will be loaded with brand new technology for our members. Chromebooks, iPads, headphones, robots and more fill the shelves of our technology cart. We look forward to sharing lessons with our members on how to use these different technologies. Members will also be able to earn extra time with the technology cart for good behavior or helping out in the classroom.

Open House

An open house event will be held on May 28th, 2020 at Peach Lutheran Church. During the open house, members and families will be able to meet their teachers, ask questions and enjoy a quick snack. Forms can be filled out and payment can also be made during this time.

We look forward to seeing you all this summer!
