Alumni Association Major Achievements

The Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh has benefited greatly from our Alumni Association. Formed in 1981, our alum have donated time and financial assistance as a way to give back to the organization that helped shape their futures.

Check out some of the Alumni Association’s greatest achievements!

Camp Radford ‐ 1982‐present

Camp Radford, the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh summer day camp in New London, is next to the Little Wolf River. For many years, the Camp was primarily funded by donations and money raised by the Alumni. Over the years, the Alumni maintained the camp, graciously donating their time each season to perform the tasks necessary to open and the close the camp and keep it in tip-top shape.

Beyond regular maintenance, Alumni have also led numerous projects to improve the camp over the years, such as building a new bridge, managing a reforestation project, blacktopping the driveway, cutting trails, building a firewood shed and installing a new bathroom in the main cabin.

Annual Volleyball Tournament ‐ 1981‐present

Beginning as a marathon basketball game in 1981, this fundraiser evolved into a volleyball tournament in the 1990s. Each year, Alumni take on current members of the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh with each participant raising pledges for their team. The tournament is open to the public.

Softball Tournament ‐ 1983‐2010

Alumni held the annual Jack Rickert Memorial two‐day softball tournament at Menominee Park for 27 years, donating all the proceeds each year to the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh.

Concession Stands ‐ 1993‐2012

The Alumni ran the concession stand every summer weekend at Menominee Park for 19 years (including events such as Waterfest and the Central Wisconsin Car Show), donating all the proceeds to the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh.

Other Volunteer Activities

Alumni have also held other fundraisers, such as brat fries, to make money for the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh. In recent years, younger Alumni members developed a fundraiser by making and selling homemade pizzas.

When they are not fundraising, the Alumni donate their time to the Boys & Girls Club in other ways as well.

  • They make and serve Christmas dinner for members and their families during the Club’s Radford Center Christmas Party.
  • They make and serve dinner for our Annual Youth of the Year event.
  • They volunteer their time making Club improvements that have included:
    • The Radford Center Playground
    • Renovating the games room
    • Building the Club trophy case
  • They accompany kids on Club field trips
  • They lend their time assisting with the Club’s regular programming

The Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh is extremely blessed to have such an active and dedicated Alumni Association that has remained passionate in serving and giving back to youth and their community.
