Saturday, January 27th marked the halfway point of the YMCA youth basketball season hosted here at the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh. Organized practices for the round robin league began mid-December with the season running several weeks January 6th thru February 17th. The two club teams practiced Wednesday and Fridays and show great teamwork on the court despite only being allowed a couple hours of practice time each week.
The 5th and 6th-grade team usually plays around 9 am which is quite early for them on a Saturday, but by the time the game clock starts running their wide awake and ready to play. The team boasts a record of 3-1 which is very impressive for a team that has never played together before.
Our 7th & 8th-grade squad moves the ball around the court effortlessly, playing to each other’s strengths like they’ve been playing together for years. As a coach, it isn’t uncommon for an opposing team parent to come up to me following the game praising our teamwork and ability to move the ball around to one another. The team also boasts a record of 3-1.
We are very thankful to see many parents and grandparents in the stands supporting our players! If you’d like to come cheer us on our remaining schedule is included below.
