Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service and January is National Mentoring Month, making it a great time to take that next step and dedicate your time to youth.

After the past few years, it’s more important than ever that young people have safe, caring adults they can turn to. Someone to look up to. Someone to talk through worries and bad days. Someone to celebrate victories big and small. A mentor is there to listen, support, and shine a light on potential. Now is a great time to be that “someone” and become a Big Futures at the Club mentor.

What types of activities do Mentors & Mentees do together?

One of the ways Mentors and Mentees are matched is based on common interests. Our matches have been having a blast doing activities like:

BAKING – Use the Club’s kitchen to bake or cook together!
SPORTS – Share your love of sports with your mentee! Use the Club’s outdoor spaces and gym.
CRAFTING – Make jewelry, build, paint, sew and do other crafts. The Club’s art room has all the supplies for a fun craft night with your mentee!
And More!

Matches spend their time doing a variety of fun activities and can work on homework, talk about career interests, and work on soft skills. Just three hours per month and a positive attitude are all it takes to have an impact.

Mentor Commitment:

  • Min. 3 Hours/Month
  • Meet at the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh, or the Mentee’s school
  • Activities planned by Mentoring Coordinator based on Mentee & Mentor’s interests

The Club is always looking for new mentors, especially male mentors. Click here to learn more about the program and to apply.
