Boys & Girls Club Celebrates Double Honors: Hall of Fame Induction and CEO of the Year Recognition

November 20, 2024

The Boys & Girls Club is proud to announce two major achievements that highlight the dedication and excellence of its leadership team. Lifetime Board Member Dave Elbing has been inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wisconsin Hall of Fame, and CEO Tracy Ogden has been named CEO of the Year at the annual BGCA – Wisconsin Area Council & Directors Conference in Madison.

Dave Elbing: A Legacy of Service and Dedication
Dave Elbing’s induction into the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wisconsin Hall of Fame reflects his remarkable 36 years of service. A dedicated Lifetime Board Member and past president (1995-1996), Dave has consistently gone above and beyond. He was instrumental in restructuring our board to increase efficiency, and he has actively volunteered at fundraising events, delivered Thanksgiving meals, and supported facility improvements, from gardening to managing office remodels.

Dave’s contributions also extend to mentoring youth and leading our safety committee to ensure we meet BGCA standards. His vision has been key in fostering growth, building partnerships with local nonprofits, and sharing best practices with other Clubs. As a member of our Building Committee, he has helped design and fundraise for our $19 million capital project, ensuring its success.

Dave’s hands-on approach and unwavering commitment make him an irreplaceable part of the Club.

“Dave Elbing exemplifies the spirit of service and dedication that defines the Boys & Girls Club mission. His tireless work, compassionate leadership, and unwavering belief in the power of the Club to change lives have left an indelible mark. Dave’s legacy is one of action and heart, and we are honored to celebrate him as he enters the Hall of Fame.”

Tracy Ogden: A Trailblazing Leader
Tracy Ogden’s recognition as CEO of the Year underscores her exemplary leadership and visionary approach to advancing the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh. As the first female CEO of the organization, Tracy has shattered barriers and set a new standard for leadership during her 15-year tenure.

Under her guidance, the Club has expanded its facilities and created the Hyde Family Community Center, significantly increasing its capacity to serve youth and families. Today, the Club can welcome an additional 150 youth daily (450 total daily), providing access to tailored programs focused on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character development.

Tracy’s vision for the Hyde Family Community Center has fostered collaboration among more than 20 local organizations, creating a one-stop hub for essential services like mental health support, education, and workforce development. This initiative has strengthened the community and ensured families throughout Winnebago County have easier access to support.

Tracy’s influence extends beyond the local community through her work with various boards and organizations. Using her expertise in resource development, leadership, and campaigns, she drives positive change and inspires professionals in the Boys & Girls Club Movement and the broader nonprofit sector.

Tracy firmly believes that teamwork is the cornerstone of running a successful Boys & Girls Club.

“Tracy is one of the most generous people I have ever met,” says COO Lindsay Clark. “She always puts others first and thinks about what they need. She’s the first to wish someone a happy birthday, send a meal via Instacart when they’re sick, check in with a text when something’s happened, or reach out when she hears someone is struggling. Tracy is caring, kind, and exceptional at building meaningful connections with every staff member in the building.”

A Celebration of Excellence and Impact
These honors reflect the incredible impact of Dave Elbing and Tracy Ogden on the Boys & Girls Club and the broader community. Their passion and commitment have transformed the organization, ensuring a brighter future for the youth and families they serve.
