The Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh is excited to partner with the School District of Omro to offer a state licensed after-school program this fall. Students from Omro Elementary School and H.B. Patch Elementary School in kindergarten through 5th grade can take part in the programing that will include homework help, STEM learning, arts and crafts, time in the gym and on the playground, field trips, learning from community partner volunteers, and more.
The after-school program will be held at Omro Elementary School, with students being bussed from H.B. Patch Elementary School. Programming starts when school ends for the day (early release Wednesdays included) and goes until 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, starting September 1st and running through June 3rd. Discussions are currently taking place to expand programming through the summer to make it a year-round program.
“When we began discussions with the School District of Omro to offer after-school programming, we found that over 100 families had an interest in the program. We are very excited to begin this program in the fall and expand our reach with youth,” said Tracy Ogden, Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh CEO.
An open house will take place in August at Omro Elementary School, with program registration beginning in May. The Omro after-school program will cost $10.00 per day, per child along with a Boys & Girls Club membership. A yearly membership allows a child to enroll in any Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh program. Forms to enroll will be available through the school. Families will only pay for the days a student attends the Omro after-school program. The program will also accept childcare assistance like other licensed childcare centers.
“The School District of Omro is very excited to be working with the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh to develop a quality after-school program for elementary students. We look forward to a partnership with the Boys & Girls Club that will allow us to meet the needs of the families in our community. We hope that the new program is a “win” for all those involved,” said Dr. Jay Jones, School District of Omro Superintendent.
