The Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh was honored to receive the Corporate Friend of Education Award at the Oshkosh Area School District’s Recognition Dinner and Ceremony on May 22.
The Boys and Girls Club of Oshkosh received the award because of its commitment to serving thousands of students annually when school is not in session. The Club supports students in Oshkosh by providing a safe and nurturing environment after school, on non-school days, in the summer, and throughout the pandemic.
“When a Club youth or a teen has a need, the staff at the Boys and Girls Club finds a way to meet that need. Whether academic, social/emotional, or a basic need, the “can do” attitude of the Club staff is there,” said Dr. Bryan Davis, Superintendent of Schools. “This especially shines through in the programs and offerings at the Club that improve the lives of Oshkosh students, including academic support programs such as the Big Futures Mentoring Program, Be Great Graduate Program, and After School Programming, including CLCs.”
Over 700 students each day take part in the Club’s after-school programs through CLCs-Lighted School House and MELT. This extension of the learning day improves academics for students as well as expanded enrichment offerings. Whether it be staffing or resources, the Club is there to support the children and families of the Oshkosh Area School District.
“We are honored to receive this award,” said Tracy Ogden, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh. “In partnering with the Oshkosh Area School District, we’re ensuring that the communities’ children have a safe place to go when not in school and the resources they need to become their best selves. It’s a true joy to watch the youth and teens in our community succeed, and as a Club, we’re always ready to do whatever it takes to help make that happen.”
