Boys & Girls Club Blog

Did you know?

Did you know our Boys & Girls Club is a Level 4 Trauma Informed organization? This means our full-time program staff are trained to understand how trauma impacts children and teens. We have carefully designed programs and practices to better support their needs, creating an environment that fosters physical, social, and emotional safety. Here are just a few ways we provide this support:
  • Calming Spaces & Academic Support: Our “Zen Den” offers a soothing environment for kids to reset, while our Learning Centers provide targeted academic help in areas like reading and math for children who may be struggling.
  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL): Children participate in daily SEL programming, helping them build self-awareness, resilience and healthy relationships.
  • Community Partnerships: Collaborations with local organizations, such as the Handle with Care program through Winnebago County and the Oshkosh Police Department, provide additional resources and support.
  • Basic Needs Assistance: We help families by providing essential items like meals, clothing, showers and hygiene supplies.
  • Ongoing Staff Training: Our staff receive continuous education, including training in suicide prevention, ensuring we remain equipped to address the challenges our youth face.
At our Club, we’re dedicated to creating a nurturing, supportive environment where every child can feel safe, valued, and empowered to succeed. Learn more about our Boys & Girls Club at bgcosh.org.
