Did you know that the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh has helped 221 teens earn their driver’s license through its Driver’s Education Program?
We are very thankful to the Auto Club Group (ACG) Foundation for their generous grant supporting our Driver’s Education Program. This funding helps offset program costs including permit and license fees ensuring more teens can participate. This past summer marked the eighth consecutive year of offering this valuable program and we’re proud to share that 221 teens have gone through the program!
Earning a driver’s license is a key milestone on the path to independence, yet many teens face financial barriers that prevent them from enrolling in driver’s education. Since these courses are not required for high school graduation some young people delay getting licensed while others take the risk of driving without proper training. To address this challenge, the Club launched the Driver’s Education Program giving members the chance to build essential driving skills in a safe, affordable and supportive environment. By providing financial assistance, the program makes it possible for teens to complete the requirements and take an important step toward becoming licensed drivers.
In partnership with Cruisin’ Safely Driving School, the Club offers comprehensive instruction covering traffic laws, road safety, vehicle care and practical tips for car ownership. Students also complete the required behind-the-wheel training with Cruisin’ Safely while receiving extra tutoring and one-on-one support from the Club’s Facilities Coordinator Adam Cummings.
