Getting Members Workforce Ready with Old Navy

August 24, 2023

Our Club has recently partnered with the Oshkosh Old Navy through the This Way ONward Meet & Match Initiative to create fun and new workforce readiness programs for our Quest and Teen members (4th-12th grades). This opportunity connects Boys & Girls Clubs with a local Old Navy store to expose members to new career opportunities while earning money to support Club programming.

In August, 15 Club members traveled to the Oshkosh Old Navy to participate in ON-the-Job training. Members got to learn how to run a register, dress mannequins, and participate in other activities involved in running a retail store. Throughout the rest of the year, our Club will be hosting application drives, a career workshop involving mock interviews and resume building, and a hiring fair with the support of Old Navy volunteers. Our Club will be granted a designated amount of money for each event completed, which will also be matched by Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Club members ages 16 and older also have the opportunity to work at the Oshkosh Old Navy to gain valuable work experience. Simply by applying, members will receive a gift card to Old Navy/GAP stores, as well as a larger gift-card incentive if hired.

As we anticipate the opening of our new Amcor Teen Center in the Spring of 2024, we are extremely excited to partner with even more Oshkosh businesses to create valuable workforce readiness programs and experiences for our members. If you or your business/organization is interested in getting involved in our workforce readiness programming, please contact us at (920) 233-1414.
