Jessica McKenna Receives Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh’s 2020 Professional Service Award

Jessica McKenna received the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh’s 2020 Professional Service Award for devoted service. Jessica graduated from UW-Stevens Point with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Public Relations. She started working for Boys & Girls Clubs in 2009 while she was still in college. During her time at the Boys & Girls Club of the Fox Valley in Appleton she worked as a Youth Development Specialist running a number of different programs. She then worked at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Green Bay serving as the Academic Coordinator. She was inspired to work in the Boys & Girls Club movement because she believes that children deserve every opportunity to become successful as they grow and having positive adult relationships is a big component. She is passionate about education because she truly believes that regardless of someone’s situation, being educated always open doors to a better life. “In this year of uncertainty, Jessica has stepped up to create an environment of learning and fun for all our kids,” Tracy Ogden shared. This past year, Jessica has really showed to be a leader at the Club. When the Club was shut down in March to June, Jessica made sure that members who needed tutoring assistance were stilling getting virtual tutoring as well as making education kits to send home to families. When we opened for summer, Jessica became the lead of one section of the Club and has continued that through this school year. She has also helped each staff with getting education resources, making sure they are well prepared to help kids with their virtual learning, helped many kids one on one with their classwork and still made learning fun. This Club has really benefited from her leadership this year.
