The Boys & Girls of Oshkosh would like to congratulate Lorie Bunke who was inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wisconsin Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame induction took place at the annual Boys & Girls Clubs Wisconsin Area Council & Director’s Conference November 7-8 in Steven’s Point.
The prestigious Hall of Fame award goes to someone whose contribution to the Boys & Girls Club movement is demonstrated through their extreme commitment and long-time passion for the Club, its mission and its community.
Lorie, a Lifetime Board Member, joined the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh Board of Directors as a young professional in 1982 and immediately rolled up her sleeves and embraced her role as a board member. She was involved in several of the Club’s capital projects, including raising funds for its Radford Center, Head Start and Teen Center buildings. She served as the Board Treasurer and then went on to become the Club’s very first female Board President. Through the years, Lorie’s dedication and involvement at the Club has not diminished. She has served on the Finance Committee for 40 years and volunteers for a wide variety of Club events, programs and fundraisers throughout the year. Additionally, Lorie helped with the Reality Store finance program for middle schoolers and smaller projects like sticking stickers on Turkey Trot race bibs and signing Christmas cards. She’s always been willing to lend a helping hand.
“Lorie is a major asset to the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh and we sincerely appreciate her service as a Lifetime Board Member of our organization”, said Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh CEO Tracy Ogden. “Lorie’s kindness and dedication to youth have made such an impact. I couldn’t be happier to see her receive this honor. Congratulations!”
