Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh Receives Merit Award for Program Excellence at Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Conference

CEO Marc Dosogne accepted on behalf of the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh the prestigious Merit Award for Program Excellence in the category of health and life skills for our Grief Support Network program presented by Elizabeth Fowlkes, Senior Vice President, Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The award was recently presented during Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s 113th National Conference in Houston.

The Grief Support Network program provides compassionate care to kids, teens and families who have experienced a loss. Children and teens can express themselves through play, music, art, games and sharing. Families do not need to be a Club family to participate. Services, including meals, support groups and child care, are offered to families free of charge.

“We are so proud of this program and the difference it is making in the lives of local families who are in the midst of dealing with a loss.” explained CEO Marc Dosogne. “We hope this award speaks to the high level of care and quality of service we continually strive to offer families.”

Merit Awards for Program Excellence are sponsored by MetLife Foundation and presented annually for outstanding programs developed and implemented to lead youth to great futures at Boys & Girls Clubs across the country. Each honoree also receives a $2,500 award.

Each year, hundreds of entries are submitted in the five core program areas: character and leadership development; education and career development; health and life skills; the arts; and sports, fitness and recreation; as well as in the three overall program areas: Best Overall Program by organizational Budget (as it pertains to your Club’s annual budget amount) – less than $500,000 or more than $500,000; Best Overall Participation and Regular Attendance; and Innovations in Safety.
