Share Winter Foundation Supports Outdoor Adventure Club’s Ski Program

November 9, 2022

The Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh has been chosen to receive a grant from the Share Winter Foundation in support of our Outdoor Adventure Club’s Ski Program. Share Winter aims to improve the lives, health, and fitness of youth through winter sports and has supported over 157,00 youth since 2016. They ultimately strive to make winter sports accessible to a broader, more diverse community, so that everyone has the opportunity to try out winter sports.

The Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh Ski Program is open to Club members in our middle school and high school programs. Members are taken to Nordic Mountain, located in Wild Rose, during four program days throughout January and February. There they have the opportunity to take lessons in either snowboarding or skiing. Those who show progress and responsibility throughout these program days are invited to attend a weekend ski trip at Indianhead Mountain Big Snow Resort in Wakefield, MI. This program costs $50 per student, as well as an additional $50 to attend the weekend trip. However, financial assistance is available for those who may not be able to afford it.

With this extra financial support for our Ski Program, we aim to introduce winter sports to more Club kids. We have roughly 15 kids who participate in this program each year and would like to continue to increase these numbers. The Share Winter Foundation funding will help cover lift costs, rentals, and lessons to ensure members have an opportunity to participate in winter sports.

Registration for this program will begin in January. Please contact our Director of Youth & Family Engagement, Danielle Bittelman, at danielleb@bgcosh.org with any questions regarding this program.
