Strategic Plan Update from CEO, Tracy Ogden

June 3, 2021

At the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh, we are halfway through our 3-year strategic plan. While 2020, threw us some curveballs, we were still able to work on and accomplish goals on our strategic plan. We were excited in March to go back to after-school care programming after being open all day since June 2020 and that we are able to be at almost full capacity for the summer program this year. Because, we are back to our normal schedule, we have been able to focus even more on our strategic plan goals.

Some of the things we have accomplished in the last year and a half are:

  • We have continued to provide educational programming to over 400 members in the 2020-2021 school year including STEM and reading programs
  • Our mentoring program currently has 72% of the mentees who have improved or maintained their reading grade and their math grades
  • We have 100% of seniors graduating this year!
  • We have started a new middle school-specific program which starts this summer
  • We will be opening an after-school site at South Park Middle School and will be adding a staff member for our Be Great Mentoring Program at Oshkosh West High School
  • We will be opening an after-school care site in Omro this Fall
  • We are busing 30 kids from Oaklawn Elementary and hope to expand to Emeline Cook and Reed Elementary this Fall
  • Expanded our mentoring program by collaborating with Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Wisconsin to serve our middle school members with a new program, Big Futures Mentoring Program
  • We updated our kid tracking system to a system called Visions
  • We had cameras installed into our busses and vans to increase the safety of our kids and staff
  • We started our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee which has helped us to look at how our Club is doing
  • We gave our staff training virtually through ted talks, webinars, podcasts and more until we could meet in person
  • We gained 2 new board members
  • We purchased and tore down 9 houses and are planning on purchasing and tearing down another 3 houses on Monroe St so the Club is able to expand when the time is right
  • Our board engaged in their AAA goals of being advocates, askers and ambassadors for the Club
  • We updated our donor development plan to better engage donors
  • And finally, we have served 872 kids and their families in 2020-2021

We cannot believe all that we have been able to achieve with the support of our community. We are looking to the future and all we can accomplish in the next year and a half to meet the rest of our strategic plan goals. We will continue to work to find ways to best serve our kids, families, community, staff and friends of the Club!
