As a leader in youth athletic programming, the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh is transforming lives daily. Through innovative programs, the Club provides children and teens—from age five through high school—with opportunities to engage in a wide variety of sports, including basketball, soccer, running, baseball, volleyball, and flag football.
“Our goal is to create environments where youth can learn physical skills, build confidence, and make healthy choices,” says Sam Utesch, Director of Athletic Facilities. Thanks to partnerships with prominent organizations like the Milwaukee Bucks, Badger Region Volleyball, MLB, NFL Alumni Youth Sports Camps, USTA Midwest, and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, the Club hosts impactful events that inspire and empower young people.
Here are two stories that highlight the incredible impact of these programs.
Holden’s Journey to Confidence
When Holden first joined our basketball program, he was quiet and hesitant. He admitted he had never played basketball before and felt nervous stepping onto the court. But as practices progressed and games unfolded, Holden began to thrive. By the end of the program, he had transformed into one of the most enthusiastic participants. He became a familiar face at the gym—often the first to arrive, eager to play. His growth was supported by the Club’s state-of-the-art facilities, including our two gyms and the Community First Credit Union Multi-Purpose Field.
Nora’s Perseverance and Triumph
Nora’s story is one of determination. She joined the Club’s running program this past fall, unsure of her abilities. The early sessions were tough, and she openly shared how challenging they felt. Yet, week after week, she kept showing up, pushing herself a little further each time. By the end of the eight-week program, Nora completed her first 5k race, beaming with pride and astonishment at her accomplishment. Her excitement didn’t stop there—she’s already signed up to participate again next year.
Your Support Makes the Difference
These stories are just a glimpse of the life-changing experiences happening daily at the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh. At a time when the cost of youth athletics continues to rise and participation rates decline nationwide, your generosity makes all the difference. Your contributions help ensure that every child, regardless of their financial circumstances, has the opportunity to play, grow, and succeed—on and off the field. Together, we’re building confidence, resilience, and lifelong skills that will shape the next generation of leaders. Thank you for making these moments possible.
