Great Futures Campaign

Campaign Letter

Dear Friends of the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh,

The Club started over 45 years ago as a place for kids and teens to go after school. Today, it has grown into much more than that, providing critical programs and services to meet the increasing needs of Oshkosh youth.

Youth receive basic needs support like a safe environment, caring adults and healthy meals and snacks. Members in the greatest need, however, also receive trips to the eye doctor and the Tri-County Community dental clinic bus, haircuts and showers, and, in some cases, assistance with tuition and help finding a job.

The Club has also joined forces with Catalpa Health to encourage mental health and wellness of all members by providing therapy, case management services and emotional wellness programs onsite at the Club.

The Great Futures Mentoring Program pairs middle and high school youth who would benefit from additional guidance with a dedicated adult mentor. Mentors help youth them grow academically, develop decision-making and life skills, and create a career plan for after high school.

The STEP Up anti-bullying program is a partnership between the Oshkosh Police Department and the Club that bridges the gap between youth and law enforcement by establishing healthy relationships with kids and teens. Officers even play games with members like volleyball, kickball and basketball, known as “Challenge the Cops Night.”

Power Hour Homework Help offers a structured time and place for Club staff, academic tutors and volunteers to help members understand and complete homework assignments on time. Members are better prepared for classes and proud of their hard work and accomplishments.

Busing services to the Club are available from many area middle and high schools for Club members during the school year with the Club’s 30-passenger bus and two 15-passenger vans.

The Club offers licensed after school care for youth in four local elementary schools, and partners with the school district to provide staffing and programming for additional CLC after school care sites at five elementary and middle schools, and growing!

The Club is so much more than just a place to go after school, it’s a place where we are investing in the Great Futures of Oshkosh youth and we need your help. We kindly ask that you consider contributing to our 2017 “Great Futures Campaign” and help us continue to offer life-changing programs and services like these to youth who need us the most, both today and into the future.

As always, thank you for caring about youth.

Sincerely,

Matt Jameson, Board President

Marc Dosogne, CEO
