We are now in the last week of our fun-filled Omro Summer Program. It was our second summer having a program in Omro and it was full of learning, building friendships, and adventures for everyone!
Throughout the summer we held our program at both Omro Elementary School and HB Patch Elementary School. Youth have enjoyed field trips around Wisconsin to destinations like the EAA Aviation Museum, Barlow Planetarium, Lambeau Field, Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison and more. We’ve also taken weekly trips to area pools and beaches and day trips to the Club’s Camp Radford in New London.
We partnered with several wonderful organizations this summer as well. Girls Scouts ran special activities like archery and bracelet making and programs that centered around building confidence and strong character in girls. Our youth were invited to come to “Gather at the Garden” put on by Casa Ether House, FoodWIse and the Carter Memorial Library. They joined others from the community to go to the garden, enjoy a book, learn about where food comes from and how it is grown, and get a little dirty getting hands-on in the community garden! They especially loved being able to sample the different varieties of produce in the garden. While we are always sad to see summer coming to an end, we are excited to start up our third school year in the Omro community. We can’t wait to see the halls noisy and filled again with smiling faces!
