Summer Field Trips Highlights

Throughout the summer, members of all ages were given opportunities to enjoy the sunny outdoor weather in a variety of different capacities.

Everyone was able to attend Camp Radford for a number of day trips and others were given the opportunity to spend the night. For some, staying the night at Camp was their first night away from home. While at our 45 acre camp in New London, members were able to participate in activities such as archery, fishing, fort building, swimming, cooking over a fire, arts & crafts, large group games, gaga ball, and hiking.  They also learned some tree identification, fire starting tips, and some wilderness survival skills.

Beyond camp, members were able to participate in field trips where they learned how to sail at Menominee Park, visited baby animals and milked a cow at Mulberry Lane Farms, jumped around at Monkey Joe’s, and mined for rocks and saw the inside of a cave at Cave of the Mounds. They were also able to enjoy the rides at the Winnebago County Fair, swim at the Fondy Aqua Park and cheer on their favorite sports teams at a Timber Rattler and Brewer game.

Some of our members were able to learn water safety and swimming basic at the YMCA this summer through the Michael Phelps im swim program, while a few were able to actually meet Michael Phelps at the US Venture Golf Outing!

Outdoor adventures also extended to Athelstane, WI as a group of teen were able to go whitewater rafting down the Peshtigo River. After their day of whitewater rafting, teens set up tents and camped for the night. Before heading back the next morning, they were able to conquer their fear of heights climbing 70 feet in the air on the Alpine Tower High Ropes Course and trying out the giant swing. The teens and staff who were on this trip will remember it forever.

We look forward to seeing what adventures next summer will bring!!
