Youth of the Year Recap

Every year we designate one special night to celebrate Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh members who have stood out for their exceptional participation in the Boys & Girls Club experience. Our Youth of the Year event, which honored those exceptional members from throughout 2018, took place on March 19th at the Oshkosh Convention Center. This year, over 600 Club members, families, staff, board members and friends of the Club were at this special dinner to cheer on members as they walked across the stage and received their awards. Guests also heard from Myrya Mueller, the 2019 Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh Youth of the Year and listened to a musical performance from the Club’s strings orchestra, directed by Miyoko Grine-Fisher.

Each month, Club staff from our various program areas (Art Room, Games Room, Computer Lab, STEM Room, Learning Center, Gym, Teen Center and After School Care sites) choose a Club member who stands out above the rest to recognize. During the summer months, staff from each group and the 5/6 year old classrooms also select award recipients.

Members chosen for awards stood out to staff for their kind, considerate and respectful behavior, for their positive attitudes and participation and who are helpful to other members, staff and volunteers. These members receive recognition around the Club among their peers at the time they are selected for an award. They are recognized and celebrated in front of staff, family, teachers and mentors the night of the dinner and receive their certificates along with other prizes that evening. Congratulations to all of our winners this year!!!
