Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh Center Director Passes Away

It is with great sadness that I write of the passing of our Center Director, Lori Fields. Lori helped thousands upon thousands of kids in the Oshkosh area during her 29 years of service to the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh. Her passion for the Boys & Girls Club was astounding as she enjoyed coming to work each day and empowering youth to reach their potential. She was always the first to raise her hand to help a family in need and made sure all kids had their basic needs met. She was always giving whether to other Clubs, staff, families or kids. She loved every child who walked through our Boys & Girls Club doors. For all her great service, Lori was awarded the Professional of the Year in 2008 from Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Pacesetter Award from Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2011, Contributions to the Profession Award from Boys & Girls Club Professional Association in 2013, Maytag Dependable Leader Award from Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2014, Spirit of Keystone Award from Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2016 and the Sue Panek Community Impact Award from the Oshkosh Area United Way in 2019.

Lori was instrumental in helping this Club succeed over the years. From starting out at the building at Merritt and Main, running a Gold Level Keystone Leadership Group, to seeing each high school graduate walk across the stage and helping raise Club members, she has been monumental in changing the lives of children in Oshkosh.

Lori will be greatly missed by each and every person whom she has come in contact with.

Many people have been asking how they might remember Lori for Club kids in the future. Lori’s wish was that gifts made in her memory to the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh, be placed in our permanent endowment fund, which we will do so that all kids and families whom Lori loved and the future generations of Club kids, can always afford to attend here.

Saturday, July 20th, there will be a visitation from 9:00-noon at First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. At noon, there will be a funeral church ceremony, also at First English Lutheran Church. After the ceremony, from 2:00-5:00, join us at The Boys & Girls Club for a celebration of Lori’s life and legacy.

Sincerely,
Marc Dosogne, CEO and the Boys & Girls Club Staff
