Darryl Sims is in his third year as UW-Oshkosh’s Assistant Chancellor for Athletics, following a tenure as Director of Athletics since 2010. He spearheaded renovations to UW-Oshkosh’s athletic facilities, secured funding for the Oshkosh Sports Complex, and negotiated a five-year apparel deal with Under Armour for the 19-sport program. A former NFL defensive end and two-time All-Big Ten selection for Wisconsin, Darryl played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. His coaching career includes roles with the Oakland Raiders and NFL Europe, where he won the 2005 World Bowl as an assistant coach for the Amsterdam Admirals. Darryl joined UW-Oshkosh in 1998 as a football coach and has since held key roles in athletic development, corporate sponsorships, and governance. He was named to the NCAA Constitution Committee in 2021 and has served on groups addressing student-athlete name, image, and likeness issues. A graduate of Leadership Oshkosh, Darryl holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UW-Oshkosh and is active in local organizations, including the Oshkosh Rotary Club and Convention and Visitors Bureau. Darryl, a former Club kid, wanted to serve on the Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors because he says: “As someone who has dedicated my career to empowering student-athletes and future leaders, I see firsthand the transformative impact of providing young people with opportunities, support, and mentorship. The Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh embodies this mission by enabling all young people—especially those who need us most—to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.”
