Boys & Girls Club Employee Jamie Wilcox Inducted into the Wisconsin Boys & Girls Club Hall of Fame

During the Boys & Girls Clubs annual Wisconsin Area Council meeting in Madison on Tuesday, March 10th, longtime Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh employee Jamie Wilcox was inducted into the Wisconsin Boys & Girls Club Hall of Fame.

Jamie Wilcox spent most of his 40-year working career working for the Boys & Girl Club of Oshkosh (48 years if you include his 8 years spent as a Club member). He was one of the very first Club kids (#25) to sign up when the Club opened 50 years ago on Main Street as the Boys Club of Oshkosh. He joined the Club at ten years old and attended most days getting involved in everything the Club had to offer including earning the title of Youth of the Year as a teenager.

Jamie is known for his lifelong passion for Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh, his can-do attitude, for the many ways he has helped develop this organization over the years and for his willingness to support staff, board, alumni and volunteers in their efforts to help kids succeed. He is also a shining example of a person who has dedicated their career and their life to their passion for Boys & Girls Clubs and youth.

In Jamie’s own words: “”The Club has given me much more than I have given to the Club. I do the things I do to help children and families in the community just like the Club helped me way back when. Keep up the good work we do and together we can make an impact for years to come.”

Jamie has served in numerous roles through the years including athletics director, program director and Club director and even executive director for the Boy & Girls Club of Fond du Lac during a brief tenure there before returning to Oshkosh to be the facilities director, the position he serves in today.

The title of facilities director is misleading as Jamie brings a diverse skill set and knowledge base to the table. He supervises our transportation program, drives the bus, oversees the safety of the facilities, works with our safety committee, oversees physical improvements to the facilities, oversees the general management of our Camp Radford property, handles our day to day IT needs and helps with all fundraisers. Jamie also attends field trips such as winter ski trips, adventure camping and fishing excursions to help kids and staff have a good experience.

Jamie keeps an eye on all aspects of the Club organization. He is the kind of employee who can always be trusted and always knows what needs to be done, comes in early and stays late, whatever is called for to get the job done. He has worked through holidays and weekends as well to take care of building-related projected, doing whatever it takes to make sure the Club is ready for the kids, staff and volunteers. He has also developed a strong reputation in the community, which has helped the Club in the development of many donors and board members.

He was also instrumental in forming the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh Alumni Association 38 years ago after experiencing the frustration of not having funds to buy needed sports program equipment for his house leagues. Together with other alumni and friends, Jamie has organized pizza sales, Christmas tree sales, raffles, volleyball marathons, concession stands and more to raise funds each year to be donated back to Club programs. The alumni group also supports Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh fundraisers, the Club’s annual Christmas party as well as the care and maintenance of the Club’s summer day camp in New London, Camp Radford. Today, the group boasts a roster of over 125 members and continues to raise significant money every year to help the Club.

Jamie is a lifelong Oshkosh resident and is happily married to his wife Jean and together they have two adult children: Jessica Lynn Hansen and Jordan Wilcox.
